I was very pleased with the selling of my hair recently. DaveGS purchased a video of my haircut/style and he was a pleasure to deal with. I can't say enough good about him-he took his time with me as we picked out a style, his payment was good and came promptly as promised, and when it was all said and done, he wanted to be sure I liked the new style, which I do! Someone else, from the states, actually purchased the hair, and that transaction went very well also. This is my second time selling my hair here and both have been good experiences. I recommend this sight to friends interested in selling their hair, and I hope to do this again in about four years.
Yes, I was contacted by several what-seemed-to-be scammers, but they're always around. If you insist on only dealing with paypal for payment, you'll be relatively safe.
Sold 34" for $1700
I sold 34" of my hair Feb 2012 to someone named Alex in the Netherlands. Everything about the sale went great! He paid half of the amount before the cut, and the rest after I cut it and showed pictures. I ended up growing my hair for another 5-6 months so I could cut & sell a little more. My hair was shoulder length after the cut. Now my hair is to my hips and I'm hoping to grow it really long again to sell
I posted my ad on December 10th and sold it on December 24th for $300. Way less then I wanted for it but I helped someone out and got a cute new hairstyle:)
As for the site, I give it 5 stars. There where many inquiries I recieved that seemed a little off so I contacted the site support for help and always recieved an email back in the same day. They were always patient and helpful. Also I adhered to the site guidelines as far as what to watch out for concerning scams and weeded out a few scammers immediately. I strongly suggest using caution in dealing with anyone who replies to your ad. Safety before money.
Quick Sale and Great Experience!
It was great selling on this website! I was wanting to get a pixie cut for a while and thought it would be nice to get a few bucks out of the hair as well.
I was willing to sell an 11" ponytail of my straight black hair that was 3.5" thick. I listed it at $150 OBO which was probably undervaluing it a bit, but I wanted it gone.
Within a few hours, I'd already gotten several offers though a couple of them seemed a bit suspicious ($800 to cut it into a military style?).
I waited a few days until I got an offer of $200 plus shipping. I then negotiated up to $240 for extra videos and pictures.
The whole transaction was a breeze. The buyer paid first through PayPal (of course) and they laid out clear and concise instructions for exactly what they wanted from me.
Now I've got a little more spending money and the hairstyle I've wanted! I'll definitely be back next time I need to sell some hair!
surprised, but satisfied with the result
i was ready to cut my hair very short after letting it grow for 7 years.after reading a story about a woman who sold her hair (about my length) to an Australian hair extension maker for $4000 i've decided to give it a try to sell it.got an ad here.got lots of different e-mails and offers.some were scam (just read site tips what to watch out for), some were too low in price.most of good offers ($1000) were from people who wanted to come over and cut my hair themselves.i didn't want to meet nobody in person.i didn't want that kind of risk.got lots of full head shave offers (up to $1500).was considering it.would have done it for such a good cause like cancer campaign.but it none were like that, so i didn't.finally, got an offer from DAVE GS from Britain, he said, he was an amateur barber and offer me a videotaped haircut.i did 2 for him :) can't say anything ,but good about working with him.he was patient and generous and helpful.i'm growing my hair again.so we may work again! :) i still have my hair in cut ponytail.the highest offer i've got was $300 on 18 1\2 in.this is the disappointing part.but i made good money and it's a satisfying part.the surprising part is that on this "buy&sell hair" site the hardest thing to do is just to sell hair.but overall it worked out for me!
I have recently had a wonderful experience with Dave on this website. It was a pleasure to deal with such a professional, honest, and an awesome person!
Throughout our entire communication he was extremely helpful in choosing the hairstyle and the haircut that will suit me best of all. And he definitely did a great job-I receive lots of compliments on my new haircut!
The whole process was explained in the most detailed and easiest way possible. And any questions I came across were welcomed.
The transactions went smoothly and in the exceptionally timely manner. Dave even was so generous to offer extra for the hair style well done.
In order to have success on this site, you should be open to various hairstyles and haircuts as well. And welcome the idea of taking a video and/or pictures of the haircut process.
Great experience, love my new haircut! Couldn't be any happier-Thank you, Dave! Highly recommend to any potential customers.
I sold my hair for 375 $ to GSH. Even though i still think i should have gotten more for my hair, i am very pleased with the trade. I have wanted to get a short hair cut for a while now, so it really worked for me to get money for it.
There s lots of scam out there, people who want to pay by check or want to send over a person for the pick up. It does make sense to read the info about scam on this page.
Dealing with GSH was tiring and sometimes frustrating. He would not bargain at all, he gave me a price offer and in the end i had to go with it. But after all he was a serious buyer.
He asked me to get before and after pictures and also a video of the cut.
I give the page 5 stars, because it helped find a buyer and even educates you about scams, which helps you pick out the unserious e-mails pretty quickly.
I got the featured option for additional 9 $, but i dont really think you need that, because all my serious offers came right in the beginning after posting my ad, when your ad is on the first page anyways.
Bottom line : this definitely worked for me. Thanks
I had listed my hair and I was expecting to be contacted by a wig maker or something. Dave GS (apparently he's very popular around here) got in touch with me and actually paid me $850 for the video of my hair cut and then I turned around and sold the actual hair that I had cut off (with the video) for an additional $700! Def worth the $24 I paid to list it! Dave GS was so sweet and worked well with me. He paid me up front and my daughter got sick so I wasn't able to actually get my hair cut until she went back to school almost 2 weeks later and he was so understanding. If he gets in touch with you I'd def recommend him! Biggest sweetheart ever!
I had a wonderful experience with the buyer Dave GS. He was very courteous, and I also recommend him as a buyer as others have here as well. It was nice working with someone who made the transaction go very smoothly. I had a few scammers asking to pay by check and some one who asked to see the hair being cut before payment. Do not do this. I recommend reading the scam information listed on this site. It took a few weeks of dealing with potential buyers to find someone straight forward. I would say that was the only downfall to this process. Again Dave was a pleasure. I was very open to getting my hair cut short and taking a video of the hair being cut. I made 675.00 for this transaction.
Overall Good Experience
I sold my hair for a total of USD$275, which I am pretty happy with.
My seller was GSH and gave me no information about themselves and refused to give me clear instructions until I sent them images and the deal was finalised. I found this quite disconcerting and almost turned them down at one point, but after contacting the sites customer service team for reassurance (they were wonderful) I went through with the sale. I was rewarded as the money came through very quickly by paypal and the buyer even paid me extra when more length was cut so I was happy with the end result.
If my partner had been willing to let me cut my hair shorter I could have doubled my money by filming the hair cut and letting another person choose my hair style. This is usually for fetishists so be warned if you are not willing to do this. You will need to at least be prepared to be contacted by a lot of them, though they were easier to deal with than my buyer, and they can be turned away easily.
Be prepared to be contacted by a LOT of scammers as well. They are easy to pick as they will only pay by cheque and have poor grammar.
You should also be prepared to wait for a few weeks to get a good offer and finalise any deals.
28" for Asking Price - Great Experience!
I had a great experience using this website to sell my hair! I was naturally very anxious about this whole process and even after doing all the research and figuring out what to do and what not to do, I was still pretty nervous when it came down to the final cut.
I had two serious buyers within a couple days of posting my ad in the spring - I didn't get many strange requests though you can tell some of the odd emails from the serious ones. I disliked how when I asked for further information from some interested parties they'd never email back - which is how I suppose they weren't serious.
The two buyers were from my state and within my area, so I suppose I was luckier than most. Negotiations went great but I ended up going with a buyer named Dee who was very courteous and professional as well as making sure I was okay with getting my hair cut and explaining the process to me when we spoke over the phone after a several emails.
My suggestions for you when you sell your hair:
* Check around for prices on multiple websites for similar hair length/color/thickness. That's what I did and was happy with what I thought was a fair price for my hair especially since I sold it when the weather was getting warmer. I hear selling hair in the fall/winter raises prices.
* When posting your ad, provide plenty of pictures (down, up, etc.) and be prepared to have people email you asking for videos of your hair (nothing scandalous, just video proof of the hair and how it manipulates)
* Read all the helpful information on this website! You'll feel much comfortable about what you're doing!
great way to make extra cash
Within a week of listing my hair, I had made $450: $250 on getting a haircut and $200 on the ponytail itself. I definitely recommend this experience. I was going to get it cut short anyway and I made some extra money while doing it.
When I first sought to sell my hair I thought the buyers would be wigmakers, dollmakers, and other people who use human hair for something. I was surprised to find that most of the potential buyers want to choose your haircut style and pay you to get it cut off! I got $250 to get a very short (above the ears) haircut. I would never have chosen this hairstyle for myself, but for $250 it's worth it.
The person who paid me to get a haircut did not want the ponytail, so I sold that for another $200 to another seller.
By being open to getting a very short hairstyle I almost doubled my money. I could have made more: I was offered $700 to shave my head.
20" chestnut brown hair for $400
I've always grown my hair really long and then decide to cut it short, I wish I'd have known I could sell it all those other times! I had a few interested buyers on the first day! I ended up not selling it for about 3 weeks though. After a few days the emails become more scarce as your ad becomes more buried by newer and featured ones. A few buyers wanted less than my asking price for a pixie cut which I was not willing to do. Another buyer wanted to do the cut himself and pay cash which would've been okay with me but geographically it didn't work out. I ended up selling to a very nice woman in NY for my full asking price. She was having issues with Paypal and asked if she could Western Union the $ to me which I was a bit nervous about but since all she needed was my name and city I decided to say okay. Once I had cash in hand I got a haircut and mailed it out. And by the way love my new haircut!
First experience selling hair ever, and very pleased with my experience. I took 4 pictures (the limit for listing) of my daughter's already cut blonde hair outside in the sun, placed on a black pillowcase. In 3 pictures, I showed the hair spread out from the ponytail (rubberband). 1 picture showed the length from end to end, just over 15". I used this site's recommended picture sizer http://imageoptimizer.net to get them under 1MB. The sizer was easy to use and I chose "small". I got 1 inquiry the 1st day from a dollmaker, and another the 2nd day. The 2nd person was in the USA, but did not speak fluent English. She contacted me 3 times saying "How do I bye the hair?". She did not ask any questions about the hair, she wanted it. She attempted payment 3 times on paypal, once before I even returned her message. She had a problem using paypal, it seems, but it went through completely on 4th try. I googled her email address and found out she is a famous model, singer, actress. So this encouraged me to be patient. I did not get any scammers. I used my regular email address to make it easier to check for messages, and in general. The lady who bought my daughter's hair paid extra for overnight shipping. She paid $325 + shipping. Paypal deducted about $10 for their service commision. We decided not to donate the hair since hearing about locks of love's legal and financial troubles. I am very happy with this site, I sold hair the 2nd day with no problems. If you are concerned about fetish people, google "hair fetish". These people like to see the hair being cut. Wikipedia is very informative also. Good Luck!
watch out for scammers
The first buyer who commented ended up trying to scam me, so be careful. The second was legit and it went well. Watch out for signs of scammers. He sent me a check for 2,000 dollars more than we agreed….which was strange, and wanted me to send the extra money back, but it ended up being a faulty check. WATCH OUT! Second guy sent cash, and was legit.
