Posted on another site that seemed popular but got so many scams. Posted here because they require buyers to be verified. Was contacted by 4 buyers, agreed with 1. Nice and easy transaction. My advice: include lots of pictures in your ad - saves you from having to send more to everyone that contacts you
I posted as a first time seller in the beginning of 2018 and was surprised to find that there were actual human responses to my ad. I was selling 24" Asian virgin black straight hair. I had already cut it previously and didn't realize how much of a big deal that is and how it is a reduction to the value of the item. I had not posted that fact in my ad initially but most people who contacted me very politely declined interest after I mentioned that fact. I later updated my ad after subsequent messages expressing the same sentiment.
Anyway, fast forward to my experience with my ultimate buyer. As of this writing, the item has been sold for a value of $230 and has been shipped including insurance for the full value today to an individual named MrDanielsonHair, or Victor. (I will submit another review if needed). Victor has been polite, albeit a few redundant questions after my replying an answer in previous emails. Given that I also publicize my motorsport hobby all over the internet, I also accepted his request for an autograph from me. He has expressed a desire to purchase my hair again in the future and if he can post pictures of my hair online once received. I am not quite comfortable with agreeing wholeheartedly but I am merely stating that that request was presented to me.
As to my personal feelings regarding this type of business, like previous reviews, I definitely agree that there is a "creep factor" that lurks within these transactions, especially when emails from some potential buyers come through with broken English, poor grammar, and bizarre photo requests.
Other thoughts: it is a good idea to use a PO box return address for one's safety. Otherwise, the experience has been as expected and acceptable so far as well. Bottom line is yes, this forum does work. Again, I will review later if need be if I ever hear from the buyer again, whether positive or negative.
Posted on a different site to start with and got a ton of scam messages that wasted so much time. Listed here and was contacted by one legit buyer who purchased. Very happy
I just cut off 26 inches yesterday for my buyer. I found a legitimate buyer via this website and I am so grateful. We were even able to work out our own contract since she wanted 4 more inches than I currently had. Susan was a pleasure to work with and I received an awesome price.
But beware, you will be contacted by scammers, that's a given. Go through the guides on the site, they are excellent and were a great resource for me to spot the creepers. Once I was armed with all that information, each scammer was a comical encounter rather than a creepy one.
If I ever grow out my hair that long again, I will definitely be using this site to find another buyer. I was really pleased with my experience.
So happy to have just sold my hair for the second time time on buyandsellhair.com!! In 2011 I sold my 31 inch long ponytail to Alex for $1,400, and just this week I sold my 30.5 inch ponytail to Steve for $900! The price for hair has dropped a little in the past 6 years, but I'm still very happy with the money and my experience! The selling guide is awesome for everything you need to know, and tells you exactly what scammers emails look like. I was about to flag two scam emails, and the website support banned them! So happy they are watching and making the selling experience better, by cutting the scammers out so they aren't overwhelming everyone with emails to sort through. I'll be highly recommending this site to all my friends with long hair!! :-)
I listed my hair on a Monday, had 2 serious buyer inquiries by Tuesday, agreed on a price with a buyer by Thursday, had my hair cut that day and mailed it out that Friday! Less than a week! I did not get how much I originally wanted in my listing and may have gotten more had I waited a while longer, but I really wanted my hair gone ASAP. I was so impressed at the speed in which I was able to cut and sell my hair. I would definitely sell again through buyandsellhair.com again.
I must mention though, that also in such a short amount of time, I received at least 5 emails from scammers, some pretending to be interested and some with very specific requests for pictures and travel... so sellers have your guard up!
I listed images of my hair--uncut-- about a month ago. The interest for my actual hair was low to non-existent. However, the number of requests I received for hair cutting experiences, videos, and very specific posed pictures was FRIGHTENING. None of these people wanted my actual hair. They wanted to fly out to cut my hair, they wanted me to take video of my hair being cut, they wanted me to pose for pictures with my hair covering my face. Thanks to other reviews, I immediately knew to ignore all of them.
In hopes that the creepy emails would stop, I decided to just chop my hair off and sell it cut. This filtered out some of the emails, although, not the scammers. People who were "willing to pay more" if they could pay by check, and other scams like this. If they were not willing to pay via PayPal, I ignored them. I recommend you do the same.
Unfortunately, I had to cut the price of my hair. I wound of selling 11 inches for $100, so that comes to approximately $9 per inch. I am incredibly disappointed with this price-- My hair is almost 4 inches thick and very healthy, having been trimmed just 3 months prior. According to the hair calculator, my hair was worth almost $200. The price calculator does not take quality into consideration though. And my hair happens to be very shiny, soft, and straight. As we all know it's never just about quantity, it's also about quality. So to get half of what the calculator suggested for average hair was disappointing.
Although this website might be intended to sell and buy hair, the average browsers are hair fetishists. They are not on the market to buy hair to make hair extensions or wigs. They want to get off on your hair. And the truth is, it's creepy AF. This is a very sincere review but because of the low rating, I wonder if it will make it to the site or if only high star reviews are approved... I really hope so. I want people to know what they're getting into here, because I would not do it again.
I had my hair on several sites like this and this one was clearly the best. I had 12 offers in the first week, and several were above asking price. I ended up just choosing the buyer I seemed to trust the most and the hair was sold in one week.
I dealt with one individual, Sonke Peter Jensen who seemed very interested at first but started requesting weird videos of me shaking my hair like a rock star. Then he told me to shave my head, and don't tell my parents I was going to do it. Afterward he wanted a video of my friends rubbing my head to show that it felt good. Then he video called me and thought I was too reserved and cancelled the whole deal. So weird!
Then I got a request for more pictures from another person, Schneitzz. He liked the hair, sent a payment and it's all done easily.
Overall I'm happy with this site. I did bump my ad twice. Overall it took about a week to sell my hair.
Brill site. Sold to someone named Pete in 3 weeks. Got the full asking price so happy as can be :)
For best prices grow as long as you can stand, start your ad in the winter, and wait to cut it until you have a serious buyer. Very few ads were up when I started looking into selling my 23" grey/brown thick hair last January. I waited until May to sell, and cut it first, all of which lowered my sale. I listed at $450., accepted $350. from Dave Sch., who asked for larger pixel density photos before the sale, and a cutting video after the sale. I paid the shipping, insurance, and paypal fees, so my take home, after the ad cost was about $295. Still pretty good for only 10 days of effort. I had 5 contact emails, maybe 3 were serious. There's a delay in the email back and forth, so leave yourself lots of time to arrange your own hair sale. I got some great advice from the BuyandSellHair.com folks, so don't hesitate to email them with questions, but read everything on this website first. Very helpful site, I will use it again.
D.C is the real deal. Most of the others who contacted me either were either trying to scam me, or try to play games. D.C was straight to the point, and very professional. I really appreciate how patient he was with me, being I am a very anxious person, and my anxiety can take over at times. I panicked several times, and didn't quite know what to do, but he calmly talked me through it. He gave me several chances to back out, if I wanted. Over all it was a great experience. I had money in my paypal account less than an hour after he first messaged me, and payment came before I ever cut my hair.
I got a really good deal for my hair. DaveGS was super awesome. He paid me immediately once we agreed on a deal and he waited for the money to clear in my bank account from Paypal before I cut my hair. I would recommend this buyer to anyone. He is really professional and patient. He even tipped me $80 in addition to what we agreed upon after I sent him the video of my haircut.
I do not recommend DC from Alabama. He may be a good buyer for other sellers, but he kept pushing me to shave my head and take too many "before" photos and videos (including me playing with and brushing my hair) which I was not comfortable with.
All in all, I had a good experience with this website and I would sell my hair again. Be careful of scammers who want to send a certified check or have their pick-up agent come by to take your hair. Make sure the money has cleared from Paypal before you cut any of your hair off.
Listed my son's hair and had an offer within 24 hours. DA sent $250 right away to my paypal account and 2 days later I went and had his hair cut. Everything went very smoothly. No problems whatsoever.
D.C. from Alabama paid me double what I was asking for my ponytail and an easy makeover video. I had the money in my PayPal account before my hair was cut, and even after I was paid he made sure I was okay with the cut. I am! It looks great and was a wonderful makeover!
